COPS Monitoring Bulletin Newsletter #31
Are you tired of upgrading or reprogramming your alarm communicators because what used to be "the latest technology" is now "sunsetting" or already obsolete? Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an alarm communications technology that was fast, secure, reliable and never needed to be updated? Well, there is, and it’s called AES-IntelliNet. Established in 1974 and derived from military communications technology, AES- IntelliNet is a patented long-range wireless private mesh radio network designed specifically for alarm communications. AES wireless mesh communications networks and applications represent the future of alarm industry solutions and are already deployed in more than half a million locations globally. Unlike traditional wireless networks — which suffer many of the same coverage and vulnerabilities as wired networks — AES’ patented private mesh networks consistently deliver reliable, fast signal communications, even across large geographical areas and under extreme conditions. AES-IntelliNet products have been rigorously tested to the highest standards for reliability, earning NFPA compliance and UL listings for commercial and high-security military applications. Multiple paths provide redundancy to make sure all critical event data gets through to the central station quickly, and securely. Its self-healing capability allows installed units to intuitively knowwhen and where paths can be realigned to transmit data, while self-routing communications help the smart transceivers find the fastest available routes. No wire, towers, or repeaters means there is no potential for single point / single path failure, and AES signals typically take just 1-3 seconds to communicate. Because the AES wireless mesh network is privately owned and operated, there is no reliance on public service providers and there are no recurring monthly cellular or telecommunication fees. All alarmpanels are compatible with AES transceivers and, because your radio network is self-supporting and self-managed, you will never need to upgrade your communicators again. Mesh radio technology is conceptually simple. Signals that need to get from a monitored alarmpanel to the central monitoring stationmay either go directly from the AES subscriber at the alarm panel to your proprietary AES IPLink or it will “retransmit” through other AES subscribers along the way via one of many possible routes until it gets a confirmed delivery at the Central Station. COPS improved redundancy for your AES accounts: We recently upgraded our infrastructure to take advantage of AES' new 'FAR' redundancy and disaster recovery. The DR solution extends the multi-path fault-tolerant capability from wireless MESH to TCP/IP public infrastructure. Simply put, in the event an AES receiver cannot communicate with our primary systems in New Jersey, the Fast Automation Recovery (FAR) will find an alternate connection to our systems in Texas. Visit copsmonitoring.com/AES to watch a 5 minute demo animation about AES and to download more information about AES Disaster Recovery Features including the upgraded FAR system.
